Christy is a Partner in the Commercial Property team and has over 20 years post-qualification experience acting for a broad range of public and private sector clients. Christy joined the property division at Hugh James in 2005 and specialises in commercial property and has experience in a wide range of areas. Her clients include the Tirion Group, Davies Homes, Avant Homes, Merthyr Housing and The Crown Estate.

She advises on all aspects of commercial property, including large-scale site acquisitions and disposals, consortium schemes, infrastructure agreements, landlord and tenant matters, and development of both residential and commercial property.

Christy has particular experience advising on complex regeneration and development projects. Notable work includes advising Tirion Group on its £150 million regeneration of the 53-acre brownfield site at Ely Mill, delivering up to 800 homes alongside key infrastructure such as the Ely Trail, riverside park, and improved city transport links. She also advised on the project’s refinancing to M&G and the management agreement relating to the affordable housing units. She has also advised Tirion Group in relation to the acquisition and development of the former steelworks at Whiteheads, Newport comprising 471 new homes and a new school and the sale of affordable housing units to an RSL.

Christy recently acted for Davies Homes in relation to the acquisition and development of land at Dragon Parc, Merthyr Tydfil and the acquisition and development of land at Ashvale Industrial Estate, Blaenau Gwent. Christy also dealt with the Cardiff Capital Region Viability Gap Funding for both schemes.

Christy’s expertise also extends to advising registered social landlords (RSLs). She has led on a range of acquisitions and development agreements, including a recent deal involving a national house builder on a twenty-eight plot scheme in Merthyr Tydfil, and a joint venture between an RSL, local authority and service provider on a Single Assessment Centre project.

She also advised Curo Group on the negotiation of commercial leases at its flagship Mulberry Park community hub.

Christy holds an LLB (Hons) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
