Sheila is the lead contact in the regulatory department for dealing with Adult social services matters on behalf of local authorities. Sheila is a Solicitor in the firm’s Regulatory department. She has extensive experience within Family having worked in the family department for 15 years prior to taking maternity leave in 2011. In 2012 Sheila took up a position on a part time basis in the regulatory department where she remains. Since that time, she has gained experience in the areas of white-collar crime, regulatory cases, childcare, and Court of Protection matters.

In her role, Sheila supports the work of the department’s advocates, whilst acting as a litigator on her own local authority matters in both adult and child social services. Sheila’s main role at present is conducting Court of Protection cases on behalf of adult services within various local authorities and is the department’s lead contact in this area. She is skilled at over all case preparation and progression, drafting documents, advising and liaising with social workers, experts, Counsel, other parties and courts.

 

Work history

Sheila graduated from Cardiff University with her law degree in 1996 and went on to join the Welsh Office where she played an important part in bringing prosecutions for the Welsh Government against owners of children’s homes. Sheila then joined the Family Department of Hugh James as a Paralegal in 1997. Sheila undertook the LPC on a part-time basis whilst continuing to work at Hugh James and qualified as a Solicitor in 2004 in the Family department where she remained until 2011 when she went on maternity leave. It was on her return in 2012 when Sheila joined the Regulatory team on a part time basis and took up her position primarily specialising in Child Social Services and in more recent years in Adult Social Services.
