Hugh James welcomes Employment Partner Claire Tait to the London office


We have recently welcomed employment law specialist Claire Tait as partner in our London office. The appointment significantly strengthens our multidisciplinary business offering in the City and the greater London area.

Claire, who joins from Capital Law in Cardiff, has over 12 years’ experience advising on employment law and employee relations matters. With a background in HR consultancy and CIPD accreditation, Claire is well-equipped to offer full outsourced HR and in-house counsel support to businesses and organisations.

Claire has extensive experience of workplace cultural reviews, and complex investigations relating to claims of sexual harassment, bullying and whistleblowing concerns. Her arrival also brings a wealth of knowledge of unionised environments, EDI and wider cultural issues, as well as experience dealing with Directors, Trustee Boards and Governing Bodies.

From the London office, she leads a team of employment lawyers who specialise in corporate/employment support, employment litigation, strategic people projects, employment data protection and business immigration. Claire brings a focus on employment investigations and strategic people projects for the private and public sector.

Speaking of the new appointment, Head of Business Division Ioan Prydderch commented:

With her extensive background and experience, Claire adds considerable expertise to the excellent multidisciplinary services we provide for our growing corporate client base in the City, as well as bringing in new employment investigations support. Speaking of joining the team and her first few weeks in the role, Claire added:

“It is an absolute pleasure to embark on this strategic role leading a strong, energised team in London. We will be creating a legal support service for business decision makers and HR professionals to feel empowered by having the practical people skills and legal knowledge to manage effectively.”

The arrival follows the firm’s recent expansion with a larger City of London premises (1 King’s Arms Yard) and follows a raft of strategic hires including Corporate Partner Andrew Hoad, experienced commercial property Partner Rajan Shori and Partner and Head of Sport Mark Loosemore.

Ioan is head of the firm’s business services division, which comprises all of the teams which provide transactional, contractual, advisory and dispute resolution advice to businesses and organisations.  Ioan is also Head of our Construction, Energy and Projects team and has spent almost 20 years advising clients on non-contentious and contentious construction matters. He has extensive experience in the construction and engineering sector and has acted in a number of high value and complicated disputes.

Ioan’s role involves advising the firm’s key clients on some of the most significant construction projects and disputes in Wales and the wider UK.
