Helen Budge

Helen is a Partner in our clinical negligence department. She has more than 20 years of experience providing legal advice and support to claimants who have suffered serious injuries and has specialised in clinical negligence cases for most of her career. Helen deals with a broad range of medical negligence claims including brain injury cases (both adult and child), amputations, fatal claims and spinal injury cases. She has also represented many children who have cerebral palsy as a result of brain damage at birth.

Recent settlements

  • Failure to properly monitor a woman in labour resulting in delayed delivery of her baby boy who suffered a brain injury and cerebral palsy
  • Death following a failure to recognise that a patient had taken an accidental paracetamol overdose
  • Stroke following inadequate anticoagulation
  • Delayed removal of a polyp in the colon resulting in the patient’s death from bowel cancer
  • A number of claims where the patient has required amputation due to a failure to recognise vascular deterioration or infection
  • Foot drop and neuropathic pain following spinal surgery
