Witness appeal: Did you work with Mr Denis Tapp at a Dockyard in Plymouth?

The family of a man who died from mesothelioma – a cancer caused by asbestos exposure – is appealing for information from individuals who worked with him between 1978 and 1984.

Our specialist asbestos solicitors have been instructed by the widow of Mr Denis Tapp, who sadly passed away from mesothelioma earlier this year, to pursue a civil compensation claim.

Mr Tapp’s diagnosis and subsequent recent death has been an extremely difficult time for his wife and family.

Our expert legal team is now appealing for witnesses who worked for UBM Scaffolding Ltd at the Devonport Dockyard during the same time as Mr Tapp. He worked in various shops in the Dockyard including the blacksmith shop and on the HMS Ark Royal and HMS Eagle whilst they underwent refits.

Jemima Ware, asbestos claims solicitor and associate, said:

“We are hoping to help Mr Tapp’s widow by locating others who worked for UBM Scaffolding Ltd in the 1970s and 1980s at Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth and elsewhere on other contracts. If you worked with Mr Tapp at any point during his career or have any information relating to asbestos exposure as a scaffolder at the dockyard or elsewhere, Mr Tapp’s family would greatly appreciate your assistance.”

Anyone with information about working conditions, asbestos exposure as a scaffolder at the dockyard, or who may recall working with Mr Tapp is urged to get in touch. Their recollections could play a crucial role in the ongoing case to establish the circumstances of asbestos exposure and hold accountable those responsible.

If you have any information about UBM Scaffolding Ltd and other contracts they had during this period then please do not hesitate to contact us using the details below.
