Witness Appeal: Did you work with Mrs Christine King at West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance

The family of the late Mrs Christine King, who sadly died from mesothelioma (a cancer linked to asbestos exposure), is appealing for information from anyone who worked at West Cornwall Hospital on St Clare Street in Penzance.

Our specialist asbestos solicitors have been instructed by Mrs King’s family to pursue a civil compensation claim following her death in May 2023.  We are looking to trace former colleagues and staff members at the hospital who may have knowledge of working conditions or potential asbestos exposure at the hospital during Mrs King’s employment between 1983 and 2010.

Mrs King was a cleaner at West Cornwall Hospital and was responsible for cleaning throughout the hospital which included clearing up dust and debris after maintenance work had been completed. We understand that asbestos was present within the fabric of the hospital buildings and that she was exposed to the dust created during the maintenance works through her cleaning duties.

Mrs King’s daughter, Alison, commented: “It was a huge shock when mum was diagnosed with mesothelioma, especially when we found out it was from her time working as a cleaner.  We would be grateful for any information anyone is able to provide as to how she was exposed to asbestos.”

Our expert asbestos team are looking for any former employees who worked at the West Cornwall Hospital between 1983 and 2010 and recall the presence of any dust or asbestos materials or any maintenance or building work taking place.  If you worked with Mrs King at any point during her career and recall exposure to asbestos or have any other information relating to asbestos exposure at the West Cornwall Hospital, the team would greatly appreciate your assistance.

Your recollections could play a crucial role in the ongoing case to establish the circumstances of asbestos exposure and hold accountable those responsible.
