The family of the late Mrs Dolores De La Hoz, also known as Dolores Farmer, who sadly died from mesothelioma (a cancer linked to asbestos exposure), is appealing for information from anyone who worked at Moorgreen Hospital on Botley Road, West End in Southampton.
Our specialist Asbestos team have been instructed by Mrs De La Hoz’s family to pursue a civil compensation claim following her death in November 2024.

The team is looking to trace former colleagues, including nurses, doctors, porters, maintenance staff, administrative staff, and contractors at the hospital who may have knowledge of working conditions or potential asbestos exposure at the hospital during Mrs De La Hoz’s employment between 1978 and 1989. Also, any individuals involved in building, maintenance, refurbishment, or estates work may recall conditions of the hospital at that time.
Mrs De La Hoz, also known as Mrs Farmer, lived in Southampton and was an auxiliary nurse at Moorgreen Hospital for over a decade. She worked all over the hospital but particularly at Allington House. She was known as ‘Lolly’ by her work colleagues.
The legal team are aware that asbestos was present within the fabric of the hospital and would welcome any recollections of the location, use, or condition of asbestos-containing materials within the hospital buildings. If anyone recalls any refurbishment, maintenance, or removal works carried out during this time, that would be helpful to understand.
If you worked with Mrs De La Hoz at any point during her career and recall exposure to asbestos or have any other information relating to the use, presence and/or removal of asbestos at Moorgreen Hospital, the team would greatly appreciate your assistance.
Your recollections could play a crucial role in the ongoing case to establish the circumstances of asbestos exposure and hold those responsible accountable
