How legacy giving transforms lives: watch little Clark’s story

We’re supporting the campaign Remember a Charity Week to help highlight the many benefits of leaving a legacy to charity in your will.

Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity is based in Wales and relies on gifts in wills, like many other charities.

Director, Suzanne Mainwaring explains:

Each year, the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales provides specialist and often life-saving care to 73,000 children. Our mission is to help make sure they get the best treatment and outcome possible.

As a charity that relies solely on the generosity of the public, gifts in wills are a vital part of our funding. They helped to build the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales and today they save young lives by funding life-saving equipment, cutting edge research or services that help make the hospital experience for thousands of children less frightening and more fun. By leaving a gift in their Will, our supporters are making a lasting, life changing difference to children long into the future.

One of the charity’s patients is a little boy called Clark. His life was transformed thanks to the charity, and the legacy donation of Mark, who passed away in 2015 and left a gift in his will.

Clark, and his parents, recently returned to the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales to meet Judy Goodfellow, Mark’s sister, and demonstrate the life-changing difference his legacy has made.

Partner, Roman Kubiak, who has worked closely with a number of charities to grow and protect their legacy income, comments:

As someone who is lucky enough to work with a number of fantastic charities, including Noah’s Ark, I have seen first-hand how legacies can make a very real and positive impact. This includes helping the young, the vulnerable and the elderly; supporting our four-legged friends; protecting our natural landscapes and heritage; and enabling those less fortunate get access to modern facilities. Without charities, and the invaluable support from the public, none of this would be possible.

Legacies in wills are absolutely vital to ensuring that these charities continue to provide these countless benefits for the whole of our society. So, this week, during Remember a Charity Week, I would encourage everyone to have a think about the causes that mean something to them and to consider leaving a real, lasting legacy.
