The Headway 100 Challenge encourages participants to do 100 of ‘something’ in one day to raise £100 for Headway. The challenge began in 2022 and was so successful it has become an annual occurrence.

Last year, the Hugh James Serious Injury Team and Court of Protection Team travelled to Barry to spell ‘Headway’ out of 100 sandcastles in the sand. The activity gained interest from onlookers and was a great team bonding activity in addition to raising awareness and donations for the charity.

This year the team borrowed a static bike for the day and participants took turns leaving their work desks to cycle in between meetings with the aim of reaching 100 miles before the end of the workday.

The cycling kicked off at 8.30am in our Terrace Cafe and the team continued cycling without pause, through the lunch rush and until 4.30pm. Headway collection buckets were placed in front of the bike and £100 was raised during the challenge.

Watch a summary of the day, including the moment the team completed their challenge:

Anu Manda, Solicitor in the Serious Injury Team says:

“Everybody worked so hard that by the time I jumped on the bike at around 3.30pm the team had already reached 99.5miles! Whilst it was tempting to cycle just half a mile and claim that I had pushed us to victory, we decided to continue cycling until the end of the day to allow more time to collect donations in our collection buckets for Headway. We reached 115.6 miles when we finished at 4.30pm – a great achievement!”

Participants included members of the Hugh James Serious Injury Team, Court of Protection Team and Quality and Risk Department.
