Leah is a Solicitor in the Regulatory team and practices a variety of regulatory work, with a focus on licensing, motoring and transport. Leah regularly appears in the magistrates court both in prosecution and defence matters.

Leah is often instructed by the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency as a prosecuting agent for transport regulation matters. Leah also assists in providing regular training sessions to the Agency’s traffic and vehicle examiners.

Leah also practices motoring law and represents individuals facing driving disqualification under the ‘totting up’ procedure (where the driver has accrued 12 points on their licence).

Leah also undertakes work in respect of alcohol licensing including making applications, mediation with the Responsible Authorities and assisting clients at licensing sub-committees. Leah also undertakes work regarding gambling licensing.

Work history

Leah joined Hugh James in 2015 as a paralegal in the Nursing Care department. Leah was promoted to senior paralegal in 2016 and worked in this role whilst completing her LPC. Leah then went on to complete her training contract with Hugh James where she furthered her skills in nursing care, as well as completing seats in Trusts and Estates Administration and Employment and HR Services, before qualifying into the Regulatory team.
