Tracey joined Hugh James upon graduating from Cardiff University in 2007. She completed her training contract working in the commercial dispute resolution and corporate teams, building a wealth of knowledge and experience in the fields.
Since qualification Tracey has specialised in the areas of media and defamation, intellectual property and general commercial disputes. Tracey acts in complex intellectual property matters including copyright and trade mark infringement, breach of confidence and passing off. She recently successfully concluded proceedings for a large manufacturer brought against a competitor in breach of confidence and copyright infringement.
Tracey has represented both claimants and defendants in libel claims. Recent cases include successfully concluding proceedings against several UK newspapers and media bodies following wide publication of defamatory statements against an individual, and advising in claims arising out of misuse of social media.
Over the past four years Tracey has worked for clients ranging from individuals to multi-national private and public companies. She has jointly advised in international joint venture disputes and routinely deals with shareholder-director disputes. Other clients include the Welsh Ministers and Welsh Water, whom she routinely advises in relation to contentious matters.
