About Theodora

Hugh James London are proud to support Theodora Children’s Charity as our charity of the year. Last year, Carys Lewis, Solicitor in the Medical Negligence team had the pleasure of meeting the charity’s Fundraising and Communications Manager, Holly de la Nougerede, and learning about the wonderful work of the charity and their Giggle Doctors.

Theodora Children’s Charity recruit and train Giggle Doctors to provide laughter and play to children in hospital. The charity work across 22 hospitals and specialist care centres in England. They also provide giggles virtually so that children across the UK can access their services.

Each Giggle Doctor has their very own tailor-made doctor’s coat. The coats are made from hospital grade material and are designed to reflect the personality of the Giggle Doctor. You can see pictures of team Hugh James modelling some of the coats below!

Giggle doctors

The Giggle Doctors are trained over a period of two years. Their training includes both clinical training, such as infection control, and artistic training. This helps Giggle Doctors to develop the skills required to adapt their creativity and artistic talent to the hospital environment and ensures that they are prepared to provide laughter to children in hospitals.

Our solicitors often work with children and their families following illness. Some families may spend days, weeks or months in hospital. Providing the gift of laughter is a wonderful way to brighten a child’s day which is why we are so proud to support this amazing charity.
