Graeme joined Hugh James in November 2021 and is a partner in the Specialist Asbestos team. He has specialised in asbestos disease claims for nearly 20 years representing victims of asbestos illnesses and their families across England and Wales.

Graeme has extensive experience working on complex and high value claims for people diagnosed with conditions such as mesothelioma, lung cancer, asbestosis and pleural thickening. He has successfully acted for clients from a wide variety of employment backgrounds such as dockers, construction and shipyard workers, railway engineers, shopfitters, electricians, firemen, power station workers and laggers. He has also successfully acted for office workers, teachers and medical professionals exposed to environmental asbestos dust in the workplace.

Due to the specialist nature of his work Graeme has built close relationships with other professionals who work with asbestos victims such as medical and palliative care specialists, occupational hygienists, engineering experts and barristers. He is immensely proud to work closely with a number of support groups and charities, who not only raise awareness of the dangers of asbestos but provide invaluable help and support to asbestos victims and their loved ones, such as HASAG, SWASAG and Mesothelioma UK.

  • Damages in excess of £450,000 for a retired railway engineer exposed to asbestos lagging in the Swindon railway works in the 1960s.
  • Successful claim for a significant sum of compensation for the family of a retired carpenter exposed to asbestos on the construction of film sets in the UK in the 1960s and 1970s.
