Mesothelioma and Asbestos Study Day 2019

Hugh James is pleased to announce, in association with Mesothelioma UK, our annual Mesothelioma and Asbestos Study Day.

The study day will be held on Friday 14 June 2019, from 9am to 4pm with a drinks reception to follow.  The day will be held at Hugh James, Two Central Square, Cardiff CF10 1FS.

The study day is free of charge and will be accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Royal College of Nursing.

The asbestos team are dedicated specialist lawyers with vast experience in dealing solely with asbestos related disease claims. The team represent clients nationally who have been diagnosed with one of the four recognised, compensable, asbestos related conditions: Mesothelioma, Asbestos related Lung Cancer, Asbestosis and Pleural Thickening.

Asbestos is a naturally occurring substance which was mainly used for its insulation properties from the 1930s to the 1990s. Asbestos was commonly used in steel production, ship building and construction amongst other industries. The use of asbestos was so widespread that it could be found in many different types of products from filter papers to toothpaste. It has been illegal to use asbestos for new products in the UK since 1992, but despite this the UK still has one of the highest asbestos-related death rates in the world.

After inhaling asbestos fibres it can take from as little as 10 years up to 70 years for symptoms of an asbestos related disease to emerge.

The study day will be chaired by Richard Green (Partner at Hugh James) and Sarah Morgan (All Wales Mesothelioma UK) and will comprise of the following talks:
