Hugh James is strengthening its banking and finance team, with the arrival of a new partner to its London office.

Jody Bingham has been advising banks, alternative lenders, FinTechs and corporate borrowers for over 14 years. He has experience of a broad range of banking transactions, including real estate finance, healthcare, acquisition finance, growth capital, back-to-back funding lines and general corporate financings.

A partner at leading regional law firm EMW, Jody graduated from Leeds University in 1999. Jody joined EMW in 2006 and went on to establish EMW’s London banking team in April 2014. He has been working in the London market ever since.

Cited in the Legal 500, he has built a strong reputation for advising on complex legal issues, for his transaction management skills and ability to balance commercial flair with protecting and advising on key risks. Jody has also been recognised in the Legal 500 for his advice to real estate investors.

Hugh James has grown and developed its banking team into the leading player it is today through a combination of strategic hires and home-grown talent, over the last 10 years, and this latest appointment further strengthens its position. The team serves a broad client list, which includes multinational and start-up banks, alternative lenders, and a wide range of borrowers across multiple industry sectors.

Speaking of his appointment, Jody Bingham said:

“This is an exciting new chapter for me. I’m looking forward to joining the team at Hugh James and continuing to work in the heart of the City. The firm serves an impressive list of clients, and the relationships they’ve developed over the years are testament to the quality and talent of their lawyers. Hugh James’ reputation has been growing in London for some time now and I’m excited about being involved in the next phase of expansion.”

Commenting on his arrival, Dominic Marshall, Partner and Head of Banking and Finance at Hugh James, said:

“Jody’s arrival is a clear sign of our intention to grow our London banking team and we are very pleased to have him on board. Our client base has grown substantially in recent years across the UK and we needed to bring in additional specialist resource to meet our clients’ demand. Jody’s sector knowledge, experience and presence in the London market means he’ll be a great asset to us and to our banking and finance clients. We’re committed to continuing to grow and develop the services we provide to both lenders and borrowers and I know Jody also shares this ambition.”
